PLEASE NOTE: Due to a major system upgrade of the cataloging system at the Library of Congress, ECIP applications submitted between May 9, 2008 through May 16, 2008 will be held and processed beginning May 19. Work on applications already in the system will also be held, and the automatic deletion of problem applications will be suspended until May 19. |

A Cataloging in Publication record (aka CIP data) is a bibliographic record prepared by the Library of Congress for a book that has not yet been published. When the book is published, the publisher includes the CIP data on the copyright page thereby facilitating book processing for libraries and book dealers. |
